Wrong-Way Driver Arrested After Causing Multiple Collisions and Injuries on 60 and 215 Freeways

A wrong-way driver was apprehended by the California Highway Patrol after a series of collisions that left three people injured in the early hours of Sunday, April 28. The incident occurred along the 60 and 215 freeways in the Riverside/Moreno Valley area.

According to Officer Javier Navarro of the California Highway Patrol, the suspect driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on the 215 Freeway near Eucalyptus Street when they collided with two other vehicles on the transition road from the westbound 60 Freeway to the southbound 215. This initial collision took place around 2:15 a.m.

Approximately five minutes later, the wrong-way driver continued westbound on the 60 Freeway, resulting in a head-on collision with three additional vehicles. Following the second collision, the driver fled the scene on foot and was later discovered near Day Street, just off the freeway. The driver sustained significant injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The identity of the driver has not been released at this time. However, they have been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit-and-run, and driving on the wrong side of the freeway.

Emergency services also attended to the victims involved in the multiple wrecks. Three individuals from the five vehicles affected were taken to a hospital to receive medical attention for their varying injuries.
