Top Adviser to Mayor Eric Adams Allegedly Seeks Share of Migrant Contracts, Lawsuit Claims

A new lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court has brought to light allegations against Timothy Pearson, a top adviser to Mayor Eric Adams. Pearson, who is already facing a sexual harassment case, is now accused of seeking a portion of the lucrative migrant contracts awarded by City Hall. The lawsuit claims that Pearson used his influence within an obscure, recently established office overseeing city agencies to pursue financial gain.

According to the lawsuit filed by Michael Ferrari, an employee in the same unit, Pearson allegedly made a remark in October 2022, asking, “Do you know how these contracts work? People are doing very well on these contracts. I have to get mine. Where are my crumbs?” Ferrari’s lawsuit describes the exchange as “incredibly awkward.” Shortly after this incident, Pearson assumed control of the unit from Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Phil Banks.

The lawsuit further alleges that Pearson enjoyed protection from City Hall, which emboldened him to openly request his share of city contracts in front of three NYPD supervisors. Ferrari’s attorney, John Scola, stated that this entitlement and protection also led Pearson to believe he could sexually harass women in the office without consequences.

This is the second lawsuit within two months accusing Pearson of misconduct. In a previous suit filed in March, former police officer Roxanne Ludemann claimed that Pearson had sabotaged her career after she rejected his sexual advances. The latest lawsuit reveals that Pearson’s behavior became so problematic that a department chief implemented measures to ensure he was never alone with female colleagues.

Ferrari, who was allegedly assigned to prevent Pearson from sexually harassing women in the office, filed the lawsuit against him. City Hall spokesperson Kayla Mamelak stated, “We hold all public servants to the highest standards,” adding that they would review the lawsuit.

The lawsuit paints a picture of Pearson as a braggadocious mayoral aide who wielded his power within the NYPD and other city agencies while working in the enigmatic unit located at 375 Pearl St. Ferrari recounted an incident where Pearson sought retribution against a police sergeant who questioned his presence at a precinct, subsequently contacting the commanding officer to cause trouble for the sergeant.
