Two teenagers were engaged in a series of crimes and crashes across two states, culminating in New Jersey on Saturday morning. The incident began when a stolen vehicle from Smyrna, Delaware, was involved in a crash on Shore Road at Mimi Court in Northfield at approximately 8:45 a.m., as reported by Northfield police. Following the crash, six individuals, including two 15-year-old boys, fled towards Wabash Avenue. Shortly after, a home invasion was reported, where one of the teens held a person at gunpoint while several items, including the keys to a white Porsche, were stolen.
Northfield police initiated a pursuit of the stolen Porsche but discontinued it due to the suspects’ extremely dangerous driving. The Porsche was later involved in an armed carjacking in Atlantic City at around 9:50 a.m. Delaware State Police reported that the vehicle was subsequently located on Old Capital Trail in Wilmington, Delaware, after being pinged by authorities on Route 95 near Route 202. Following a brief foot chase, the two teens were apprehended and arrested.
The teenagers were arraigned in Delaware on charges of receiving stolen property over $1,500 and resisting arrest. They are currently being held on a $21,000 cash bond at the New Castle County Detention Center. Northfield police have initiated the extradition process to bring the teens back to New Jersey, where they will face over a dozen charges, including conspiracy, robbery, burglary, handgun possession, and assault charges. The search for the remaining four suspects and the handgun involved in the crimes is ongoing.
