Teenage Gunman Wounds 10 in Florida Party Venue Shooting

A teenage gunman opened fire at a private event in a party venue in Sanford, Florida, on Sunday, leaving 10 people wounded. The incident occurred after a fistfight broke out, escalating into a chaotic scene. A security guard swiftly intervened, tackling and disarming the shooter, while another guard handcuffed him until law enforcement arrived. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reported that none of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries, with most gunshot wounds below the waist.

The shooting at Cabana Live, a restaurant that offers cabana rentals and hosts various events, highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence in America. It serves as yet another example of the challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing violence, particularly as juveniles continue to gain easy access to firearms. A 16-year-old suspect was apprehended at the scene and subsequently charged with attempted homicide, firing a weapon in a public place, using a firearm during a felony, and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the shooting erupted when an unrelated individual drew a handgun and began firing into the crowd. Prompt action from a nearby security guard led to the swift apprehension of the suspect. Upon the arrival of two deputies who were assisting private security, the teenager was taken into custody. Authorities recovered a 9mm handgun and matching spent shell casings from the scene.

Cabana Live confirmed on their Facebook page that the incident occurred during a private event and assured the public that all their employees were safe. The venue is cooperating with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, expressing their prayers for all those affected by the incident.
