Suspect Identified in Marina del Rey Shooting Incident

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has identified the suspect involved in the shooting incident that occurred over the weekend in Marina del Rey. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Victoryloc Nguyen, is currently in custody with a bail set at $2 million. No injuries were reported during the incident, which took place in the 41000 block of Via Marina.

The incident unfolded on Saturday night when deputies from the Marina del Rey Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of gunshots within the apartment complex. A sheriff’s helicopter later spotted Nguyen on the roof of the building, firing rounds from a rifle. Additional law enforcement units were called to the scene, including armored SWAT-style vehicles.

Videos circulating on social media captured the harrowing moments, with one showing the suspect shooting from the balcony while making disturbing remarks. Witnesses estimated that approximately 100 rounds were fired from the building. Residents sought shelter in their homes, taking cover as the sound of gunfire echoed in the background.

Jeff Rubin, who was hiding with his wife in their apartment’s bathroom, described a period of silence followed by another round of gunshots that continued for three hours. The suspect’s arrest occurred early Sunday, and photographs released by the sheriff’s SWAT unit displayed two rifles, a handgun, and tactical gear found at the scene.

Reports suggest that Nguyen, a self-employed chef specializing in organic traditional Vietnamese cuisine, may have been live-streaming the shooting. However, authorities have not yet determined the motive behind the incident.
