Super Bowl-Winning Cornerback Bashaud Breeland Arrested on Multiple Charges in Charlotte

Super Bowl-winning cornerback Bashaud Breeland, known for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, has been arrested in Charlotte for the second time in less than a year. The 31-year-old is facing a litany of charges after allegedly assaulting Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers who were responding to a drug call on Saturday. The officers discovered various narcotics, including containers of what appeared to be marijuana, a plastic bag containing mushrooms, bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, and dihydrocodeine bitartrate. Additionally, multiple firearms were found at the scene.

According to jail records viewed by The Post, Breeland now faces felony drug charges, two misdemeanor charges of assaulting a government official, one misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, and two misdemeanors of injury to personal property. The personal property in question includes an earpiece and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department uniform.

This incident marks the second arrest for Breeland in less than a year. In August 2023, he was found in possession of a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV, eight firearms, what was believed to be 62 grams of mushrooms, and over five pounds of marijuana. The outcome of that case is still pending, according to court records.

Breeland, an eight-year NFL veteran, has a history of encounters with law enforcement. In 2020, he was arrested in South Carolina after resisting being handcuffed and having a gun pointed at him. The former Clemson star was drafted in the fourth round by the Washington Redskins in 2014 and later joined the Green Bay Packers in 2018. He played two seasons with the Chiefs, contributing to their Super Bowl victory in 2020. Breeland’s last appearance in the NFL was in 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings.
