Straphanger Slashed in Unprovoked Attack at Manhattan Subway Station

A 24-year-old straphanger fell victim to a horrifying attack in the early hours of Monday morning at a subway station in Manhattan. The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on the mezzanine level of the 47-50 Street-Rockefeller Center station in Midtown. According to authorities, the victim was purchasing a MetroCard when an unidentified assailant approached him from behind and viciously slashed the right side of his face with a cutting instrument.

Law enforcement sources have confirmed that this was an unprovoked attack, leaving the victim stunned and defenseless. The suspect swiftly fled the scene on foot, leaving the straphanger in a state of shock and pain. The victim was promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. However, the severity of the laceration to his face is described as severe, highlighting the brutality of the assault.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. In an effort to apprehend the suspect, the NYPD has released surveillance footage and an image of the individual they are actively searching for. The perpetrator was last seen wearing a white hoodie and brown pants.
