Oklahoma City Family Focuses on Surviving Son After Tragic Murder-Suicide

The family of Jonathan Candy, the Oklahoma City man who committed a horrific murder-suicide, has expressed their determination not to let the tragic incident define them. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, they revealed their unwavering focus on caring for the sole surviving son, who miraculously escaped unharmed. Jonathan Candy fatally shot his wife, Lindsay, and their three sons, Dylan, Ethan, and Lucas, before turning the gun on himself.

Lindsay’s family, who have taken in the 10-year-old boy, have chosen not to mention Jonathan Candy’s name, instead directing their attention towards supporting their young relative. Brent Remerowski, the boy’s uncle, spoke of the outpouring of love and support they have received from friends and well-wishers. The family’s dedication to erasing the memory of the killer is evident in an online fundraiser titled “Help Lindsay Candy’s Surviving Son.”

The devastating incident unfolded on the morning of April 22 when an argument between Jonathan and Lindsay Candy escalated into an unspeakable tragedy. Armed with a firearm, Jonathan systematically went through their home, shooting and killing his three sons. The fourth boy, miraculously spared, discovered the horrifying scene and immediately called 911.

The motive behind this tragic event remains a mystery. The police had no prior contact with the family, and there was no history of domestic abuse. Sgt. Gary Knight described the incident as a bewildering act of violence, stating that the reason for sparing the fourth boy is a question that may never be answered.

As the family mourns the loss of Lindsay, Dylan, Ethan, and Lucas, they are determined to provide the surviving son with the support he needs to navigate this unimaginable tragedy. While the attention and distractions may be overwhelming at present, the family is mindful of the challenges that lie ahead once the initial wave of support subsides.

In the face of this heart-wrenching event, the community has rallied around the family, demonstrating their love and compassion. The legacies of Lindsay, Dylan, Ethan, and Lucas will forever be cherished, while the memory of Jonathan Candy is purposefully omitted from their storytelling.
