Multiple Victims Injured in Series of Random Stabbing Attacks in Maryland Suburbs

A woman was taken into police custody in the Maryland suburbs of Washington after a series of apparent random stabbings and pedestrians being struck by a vehicle occurred over approximately two hours. Prince George’s County police responded to the incidents and provided updates during a news conference.

Six individuals were injured, with two of them hospitalized in critical condition as per Deputy Chief James McCreary. Surveillance footage of the woman was released, and she was described as a person of interest in the string of attacks. Later, police announced her detainment.

McCreary mentioned the apparent randomness of the acts and stated that investigators would explore any potential connections between the victims and the attacker.

The sequence of events began with a report of a pedestrian struck by a car, followed by another incident less than 2 miles away where a driver struck an adult and a teenager, then proceeded to stab the teenager. The 15-year-old victim was in critical condition. Subsequently, two more pedestrians were struck and injured a few miles away from the scene, with both sustaining non-life threatening injuries. About an hour later, a stabbing at a gas station several miles away left a man in critical condition.

McCreary expressed the unusual nature and rapid evolution of these events, noting his two decades of experience in the police department.

  1. This is absolutely horrifying and sickening. How can someone go on a rampage, randomly stabbing innocent people and striking pedestrians with a vehicle? It’s beyond comprehension. My heart goes out to the victims and their families who have been affected by this senseless act of violence. We need to work together as a society to prevent such heinous acts and ensure the safety of our communities.
