Multiple Car Burglaries Reported at North Berkeley BART Station

Twenty-three cars were burglarized at the North Berkeley BART station on Wednesday, according to BART officials. The break-ins occurred at an unknown time, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon.

BART has not confirmed whether additional security measures will be implemented in response to the recent crimes. The lack of information surrounding the incidents raises concerns about the safety of commuters utilizing the North Berkeley BART station.

These burglaries come as a setback for BART, which had been experiencing a positive year. The quarterly report indicated a 9% increase in rider satisfaction compared to the previous year. BART attributed much of this improvement to their “Safe and Clean” plan, which aimed to enhance visible police presence and increase staffing for cleaning trains and stations.
