The search for Margaret “Maggie” Mbitu, a Whitman woman reported missing earlier this week, ended tragically when her body was discovered in a vehicle at Logan Airport. Authorities, confirming the grim find on Thursday, have now shifted their investigation to apprehend her partner, 40-year-old Kevin Kangethe, who is suspected of her murder and has since flown to Kenya.
Massachusetts State Police have issued an arrest warrant for Kangethe and are coordinating with Kenyan officials to track him down. Mbitu, 31, vanished after departing her workplace in Halifax on Monday evening, prompting a widespread call for her safe return on social media.
The discovery of her body was made in the Central Parking garage of the airport by police acting on a ‘be on the lookout’ advisory. Video footage is being scrutinized to establish a definitive timeline of events.
Mbitu’s employer, BAMSI, expressed profound grief over the loss, remembering her as a cherished, kind-hearted individual whose death has deeply affected the community and those she served.
