Manhattan Prosecutor Questioning Stormy Daniels in Trump Case Has History of Donating to Democrats

Manhattan prosecutor Susan Hoffinger, who recently questioned porn star Stormy Daniels regarding her alleged sexual encounter with former President Donald Trump, has a notable history of donating to Democratic candidates. According to documents from the Election Commission, Hoffinger contributed $250 to President Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign in February 2020, followed by an additional $250 donation the following month. She also donated over $900 to ActBlue, a fundraising platform used by various Democratic politicians and liberal organizations, during the 2020 election cycle. FEC filings indicate that Hoffinger has exclusively donated to Democrats since 2004, with her initial contributions going to former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

During the questioning, Daniels made several explicit claims about her alleged 2006 encounter with Trump, including an assertion that she spanked him with a magazine. Trump’s defense attorney, Todd Blanche, criticized Daniels’ testimony as “prejudicial” and requested a mistrial, which was denied by Judge Juan Merchan based on Hoffinger’s argument that the claim lacked foundation.

Other prosecutors involved in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “hush money” case against Trump have also been found to have partisan backgrounds. Matthew Colangelo, a senior counsel in the Trump case who joined Bragg’s office in 2022, previously donated $400 to former President Barack Obama and received $12,000 in “political consulting” fees from the Democratic National Committee in 2018, as per FEC records. Colangelo previously held a high-ranking position in President Biden’s Justice Department. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has recently requested records from Colangelo’s tenure at the Justice Department.
