Man Shot During Attempted Carjacking in East Oakland

A 46-year-old man was shot during an attempted carjacking in East Oakland on Wednesday night. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 9900 block of MacArthur Boulevard. The victim, who remains unidentified, had just left a nearby business and was walking towards his parked car when he was approached by another man.

According to the victim’s account to the police, the suspect demanded the keys to his vehicle. Initially hesitant, the victim was shot in the leg by the assailant. The suspect quickly fled the scene in another vehicle, leaving the wounded man behind. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

Authorities have not released a detailed description of the suspect at this time. In an effort to apprehend the perpetrator, the Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
