Man Sentenced in 1993 Double Murder Case

Everardo Meza Alamillo, a 54-year-old from Santa Paula, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, with an additional 10 years, for the 1993 double homicide of his estranged wife Adriana Meza, and her partner Armando Cauich Jr. The sentencing was announced by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office following a jury finding him guilty on May 2, 2023.

On the night of October 13, 1993, Alamillo visited Meza’s residence, later returning with a loaded .22-caliber rifle to fatally shoot both victims while their toddler slept between them. After fleeing to Mexico, he evaded arrest until 2015 and was extradited to the U.S. in 2016 to face trial. Expressing gratitude towards the investigating agencies, Senior Deputy District Attorney John Barrick remarked that the verdict brings solace to the victims’ families after a distressing 30-year wait.
