Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Shot on 10 Freeway in West Covina

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy assigned to a motorcycle unit was shot on Monday on the 10 Freeway in West Covina, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred near Barranca Street, resulting in the closure of the westbound lanes of the freeway. The deputy, who was wearing a bullet-resistant vest, sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was promptly transported to the hospital. The deputy’s condition is reported as stable.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting and are currently withholding additional information. However, they have identified a person of interest in connection with the incident. Deputies have tracked a white van and have surrounded a La Puente home, sources familiar with the matter informed The Times.
