Father Completes Boston Marathon in Honor of Children Allegedly Killed by Wife

A Massachusetts father, Patrick Clancy, completed the Boston Marathon on Monday, just over a year after his three children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, were allegedly killed by his wife, Lindsay Clancy. Wearing his daughter’s bow and bracelets, Clancy crossed the finish line with tears in his eyes, raising over $75,000 for Boston Children’s Hospital.

The tragic incident occurred in January 2023 when Lindsay Clancy, reportedly suffering from postpartum depression or psychosis, allegedly strangled their three children before attempting suicide. Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and is currently undergoing mental health treatment at Tewksbury State Hospital.

Patrick Clancy, a 33-year-old Duxbury native, embarked on his first marathon as a means of therapy and to honor his late children. He expressed his love for them, describing their short lives as good lives. Clancy wore a Miles for Miracles jersey with the handwritten message, “In memory of Cora, Dawson & Callan. Every mile, every day.”

Throughout the 26.2-mile course, Clancy carried mementos from his children, including a tiny blue bow belonging to Cora, a “Happy Callan” bracelet, and another bracelet representing Dawson. He also carried a resin with his children’s handprints, a gift from Boston Children’s Hospital, where Callan passed away days after the tragic incident.

The crowd cheered Clancy’s name, providing encouragement as he ran. His determination to make a difference and the memory of his children motivated him to complete the marathon. Clancy raised an impressive $77,062 for Boston Children’s Hospital, surpassing his initial goal of $65,000.

Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, Clancy has forgiven his wife, stating, “I said I forgive my wife and I do. I’ll just leave it at that.” Prior to the tragedy, he had expressed concerns about Lindsay’s mental health to friends, believing she was being prescribed too many medications.

  1. This is absolutely sickening and heartbreaking. How can someone who is supposed to be a loving mother commit such a heinous act? It’s unimaginable to think that these innocent children had their lives cut short by their own mother. My heart goes out to Patrick Clancy for enduring such an unimaginable tragedy. The fact that he was able to find the strength to run the Boston Marathon after losing his children is both inspiring and devastating. This is a reminder of the dark and twisted reality that exists within
