Man Shot by Deputies After Alleged Armed Robbery in East Los Angeles

A man suspected of armed robbery was shot by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on Monday afternoon in East Los Angeles. The incident occurred after the man “produced a firearm,” according to the Sheriff’s Department. The shooting is currently under investigation by the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Internal Affairs Bureau, in accordance with department policy for all deputy-involved shootings.

Deputies from the East Los Angeles station responded to a call for service in the 300 block of Atlantic Boulevard, where they determined that an armed robbery had taken place. They were then approached by a second victim who reported being assaulted with a deadly weapon, specifically a firearm. The deputies received a description of the suspect and subsequently located him.

At approximately 1:17 p.m., near the intersection of 4th Street and Atlantic Boulevard, one or more deputies shot the unidentified suspect after he “produced a firearm.” The man was transported to a hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
