A man has been arrested following a high-speed chase in Minco, Oklahoma. The suspect, Preston Hayes, was accused of stealing a box truck while under the influence of drugs. The incident was captured on dashcam footage and involved multiple law enforcement agencies.
The chase began when Minco police officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but Hayes fled the scene. He drove recklessly along Highway 81, endangering other motorists. Canadian County deputies, Union City and El Reno officers, and OHP Troopers joined the pursuit.
The chase spanned several miles, with Hayes even leaving the roadway and driving through two different front yards. However, the coordinated efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved led to a peaceful resolution. No vehicles were damaged, and no officers were injured during the arrest.
Hayes has since been charged with driving under the influence of drugs, following too closely, and possession of a stolen vehicle. The stolen truck was traced back to Oklahoma City. Chief Frederick Johnson Jr. of the Minco Police Department commended the teamwork displayed by the various departments involved in bringing the chase to a safe conclusion.
The arrest was captured on dashcam footage from the El Reno Police Department.
