Rise in ‘Dinner-Time Residential Burglaries’ Plagues Scottsdale’s Golf Course Neighborhoods

Scottsdale, known for its luxurious golf courses and stunning desert landscapes, is currently grappling with a disturbing trend of “dinner-time residential burglaries” in neighborhoods that back up to these very golf courses and desert washes. Scottsdale police have reported a significant rise in these burglaries, with criminals taking advantage of homeowners’ absence during the evening hours.

According to authorities, burglars have been gaining entry into homes through backyard doors once residents have left for the evening. This pattern of burglaries has not been limited to Scottsdale alone, as various Valley cities are experiencing similar incidents. Multiple law enforcement agencies are collaborating to investigate this series of crimes, which has left residents on edge.

Scottsdale police spokespersons have revealed that between November 1, 2023, and January 23, 2024, there have been 21 incidents believed to be connected to this series. Out of these, 18 occurred in the Foothills District, while the remaining three took place in the Via Linda area. The investigations into these incidents are still ongoing.

In light of these troubling developments, Scottsdale police are urging the community to remain extra vigilant and adopt crime prevention practices to safeguard their homes. They encourage residents to report any suspicious activity or individuals by calling 911 or the non-emergency number, 480-312-5500.

As the investigations continue, Scottsdale residents are left with a sense of unease, unsure of when or where the next burglary might occur. The police are working diligently to apprehend those responsible and bring an end to this unsettling series of crimes.

  • This is absolutely appalling! How can such a beautiful and supposedly safe place like Scottsdale be plagued by such heinous crimes? The fact that these burglaries are happening during dinner time, when families are supposed to be enjoying a peaceful meal together, is absolutely despicable. It's a clear violation of people's privacy and sense of security in their own homes. The authorities need to take immediate action to put an end to these burglaries and ensure the safety of the residents. It's disheartening
