Loaded Firearm Incident Prompts Lockdown at Oak Hills High School

A San Bernardino County high school, Oak Hills High School, was placed on lockdown on Tuesday following the discovery of a student carrying a loaded firearm on campus. The Hesperia Unified School District promptly responded to the situation, contacting the school district police to secure the campus and apprehend the student. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

In a statement released by the district, it was confirmed that law enforcement and school administrators swiftly located and arrested the student, successfully recovering the loaded firearm on campus. A video obtained from TV station KTLA captured a brief chase involving a district police officer during the apprehension.

Once the student was taken into custody, the lockdown was lifted, and parents were promptly notified about the incident. Freshman Xavier Ramos, who spoke to KTLA, revealed that he knew students who had witnessed the presence of the firearm. According to Ramos, “Two people were in class, and one of them showed my friend his gun. When he did, they got escorted by the police outside and they ran.”

The gravity of the situation necessitated immediate action, ensuring the safety of all students and staff at Oak Hills High School. The Hesperia Unified School District’s swift response, in collaboration with law enforcement, played a crucial role in resolving the incident without any harm.
