Family Held at Gunpoint in Orange County Home Invasion

A family in Orange County, California was held at gunpoint during a home invasion earlier this week. Four armed robbers allegedly broke into their home, used a stun gun on one of the victims, tied them up, and demanded to know where they kept their valuables, according to authorities. The incident occurred on September 11 around 10:40 p.m. in the 8900 block of Pebble Beach Circle.

Upon receiving a whispered 911 call for help, officers from the Westminster Police Department arrived at the scene and observed four male suspects armed with handguns fleeing from the residence. One of the suspects, identified as 29-year-old Danny Sommay from Banning, was apprehended outside the home after discarding his loaded 9mm handgun, which was later found to be stolen.

Inside the house, police discovered five victims, including a man, a woman, an elderly woman, a 14-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old girl. The suspects, all wearing masks, forcibly entered the home and used a stun gun on the man, causing him to fall to the ground. The man, along with the two children and the elderly woman, were then bound while the suspects searched for valuables. The other woman managed to hide in a nearby closet and alert the police.

Despite an extensive search aided by a helicopter, authorities were unable to locate the remaining three suspects, who are still at large as of Wednesday night. Danny Sommay has been booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of kidnapping, robbery, burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a loaded and stolen firearm, and armed criminal action. His bail has been set at $1 million.
