Escaped Juveniles from Pennsylvania Detention Center Recaptured Following Manhunt

Nine male inmates, aged between 15 and 17, who escaped from a juvenile detention facility in Berks County, Pennsylvania, were recaptured on Monday, according to authorities. The escape, which occurred on Sunday, was facilitated after the inmates overpowered two female guards during a riot at the academy, thereby obtaining keys to facilitate their exit.

The Pennsylvania State Police, spearheaded by public information officer David Beohm, reported that the escapees were located within a span of about two hours on Monday morning. Initially, at 5:45 a.m., four of the juveniles surrendered themselves, appearing tired and cold. Following this, at 6:36 a.m., officials responded to a stolen vehicle and trailer report on Oak Grove Road, leading to the discovery and apprehension of the remaining five escapees.

All nine juveniles were found in a visibly unkempt state, with some missing footwear. They are expected to face escape charges, among others pertaining to additional crimes possibly committed during the period of escape. An interview with a criminal investigator is anticipated to follow later today.
