Woman Fatally Stabbed in Wildomar, Son Arrested for Murder

A 64-year-old woman was tragically killed on the evening of Monday, April 22, in Wildomar, California. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that the woman was allegedly stabbed by her son, who was subsequently apprehended by deputies. The incident occurred at approximately 9:54 p.m. at a residence on Breckenridge Trail, situated east of the 15 Freeway and north of Bundy Canyon Road.

Upon responding to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, deputies discovered the victim inside the residence with multiple stab wounds. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s department on Tuesday, April 23.

Authorities wasted no time in arresting the son of the victim, identified as 24-year-old Evan Jon Zavala, a resident of Wildomar. Zavala was taken into custody at 10 p.m. on Monday and is currently being held on a $1 million bail, as indicated by records.

The sheriff’s department has stated that there are no other suspects being sought in connection with the investigation. However, details regarding the motive for the stabbing have not been disclosed at this time. Sgt. Deirdre Vickers, spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
