Violent Brawl at Queens High School Leaves Five Students and Security Guard Injured

A violent brawl erupted at The New Dawn Charter High School in Queens on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in injuries to five students and one security guard. The incident took place around 12:45 p.m. at the school located on 161st Street near 89th Avenue in Jamaica.

According to police sources, three 17-year-old boys and two other teenage boys, aged 16 and 18, sustained minor slash wounds during the skirmish. Two of the injured teens were subsequently hospitalized, with one of them, a 16-year-old, suffering a slash to the face. The other hospitalized student, a 17-year-old, was knifed on his finger. Additionally, a 59-year-old school security guard was slashed on his right arm.

All of the involved teenagers were taken into custody, but as of later in the afternoon, no charges had been filed against them. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

  • This is absolutely outrageous! How can we allow our schools to become battlegrounds where students and staff are at risk of getting injured? It is beyond comprehension that a place of learning and growth has turned into a violent arena.

    The fact that five students and a security guard were injured in this brawl is deeply disturbing. These are young individuals who should be focusing on their education, not engaging in violent altercations. Where is the responsibility of the school administration and staff in ensuring the safety and well-being of
