A US soldier, Gordon Black, has been found guilty and sentenced to three years and nine months in a Russian penal colony in the city of Vladivostok. Black acknowledged his partial guilt in stealing 10,000 roubles ($113) from Vashchuk’s purse but claimed there was no intent. The couple had met in South Korea, where Black was stationed. It is worth noting that Black had violated army rules by traveling to Russia without authorization, having passed through China. He has a wife and child in Texas, and his wife, Megan, described their relationship as tumultuous.
