Two Separate Shootings Leave One Dead, One Injured in Oakland

Oakland witnessed a tragic night on Saturday as two separate shootings occurred within a span of 20 minutes, leaving one man dead and a woman critically injured. Authorities have confirmed that the incidents are unrelated.

The fatal shooting took place at approximately 7:07 p.m. in the 8000 block of Edes Avenue, near the Oakland Coliseum. The victim, a 26-year-old man whose identity remains undisclosed pending family notification, engaged in a dispute with another individual. The altercation escalated when the assailant shot the victim before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The motive behind the dispute remains unknown, and no arrests have been made at this time. Oakland police are actively investigating the incident, which marks the 47th homicide in the city this year, compared to 53 at the same period last year.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old woman was found shot after her vehicle crashed near the intersection of High and Redding streets, located south of Interstate 580 and east of the Laurel district. The shooting occurred around 6:51 p.m., but the exact location where the woman was shot remains undetermined. She was immediately transported to a hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition. Authorities are working to establish a motive for the shooting, and no suspect information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Oakland Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the fatal shooting and up to $5,000 for information regarding the other shooting. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Oakland Police at 510-238-3821, 510-238-3426, or 238-7950, or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
