Three Men Arrested in Connection with 11 Armed Robberies in East Bay

Three men have been apprehended by the Hayward Police Department for their alleged involvement in a series of armed robberies that occurred over a span of seven months in the East Bay. The arrests were made following a joint investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI.

According to a news release issued by the Hayward Police Department, a total of 11 armed robberies took place between August and February in various cities. Among the targeted locations, seven incidents were reported in Hayward, with one each in Castro Valley, Fremont, Livermore, and San Leandro.

During each robbery, at least one suspect reportedly brandished a firearm. In some instances, the perpetrators compelled employees and customers to relocate within the establishments, coercing employees to surrender cash from registers and safes at gunpoint. Additionally, personal belongings of both employees and customers were forcibly taken.

The investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three suspects. The first suspect, a 42-year-old Oakland man, was apprehended on February 13 and is believed to be responsible for all 11 robberies. The second suspect, a 24-year-old Oakland man, and the third suspect, a 26-year-old Concord man, were arrested on March 11 and April 4, respectively. Authorities suspect their involvement in two robberies each, in collaboration with the primary suspect.

The arrested individuals are facing charges that include robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated kidnapping, as stated by the police. Hayward Police Chief Bryan Matthews commended the coordinated efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the entire Bay Area community.
