Three Long Beach Boys Charged with Assaulting Homeless Man with Tent Poles and Tripod

Three Long Beach boys, including two teenagers, have been charged with assaulting a homeless man using tent poles and a tripod, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 20, around 6:30 p.m., prompting a response from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

LBPD spokeswoman Alyssa Baeza stated that officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Pacific Avenue following a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with non-life-threatening injuries, who was subsequently treated by the Long Beach Fire Department.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had been approached by a group of boys, leading to a verbal altercation. The situation escalated when the boys proceeded to strike the man with tent poles and a camera tripod. Additionally, they threw objects that struck the victim, Baeza confirmed.

The boys fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, but were later apprehended by the police. The suspects, aged 15, 14, and 12, were each booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime. The 14-year-old suspect also faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

As the individuals involved are juveniles, their identities have not been disclosed to the public.
