Teen Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted First-Degree Murder in Capitol Hill Shooting

Denver, CO – A teenager has been apprehended by the Denver Police Department on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder following a shooting incident in Capitol Hill on Sunday. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Abdulla Jele Mugoya, was swiftly arrested after a brief foot pursuit. He now faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder, a class two felony that carries a maximum sentence of 48 years in prison.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of East 12th Avenue and Lincoln Street, as reported by the police at 3:32 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities discovered an adult male victim at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. Police believe that an altercation between Mugoya and the victim took place prior to the shooting. Fortunately, the victim is expected to survive his injuries, according to law enforcement officials.
