Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault on Student in Classroom

A Centennial resident and longtime teacher at the Douglas County School District has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student in a classroom, according to an arrest affidavit. The incident, which took place on May 9, involved the teacher, identified as Thomure, allegedly attempting to kiss the student while they were alone in the classroom.

The age and gender of the student have been redacted from the report. As per the affidavit, the student firmly rejected Thomure’s advances, reminding him of his marital status and the potential consequences of his actions. Despite the student’s objections, Thomure persisted, following them around the classroom and repeatedly requesting “just one kiss.”

Disturbingly, Thomure made explicit comments to the student, expressing his desire to engage in sexual activities with them. He even suggested meeting at a park during the summer, stating that “casual sex can be fun,” according to the affidavit. The situation escalated further when Thomure put his hands inside the student’s pants on two occasions. When the student attempted to create distance by placing a hand on Thomure’s chest, he responded by claiming the student was “driving (him) crazy.”

Surveillance footage from the school confirmed that Thomure and the student were alone in the classroom for over an hour. After the incident, they left the school together but departed in separate vehicles.

During police questioning, Thomure admitted to providing his phone number to students and giving the student a ride in his car. However, he denied attempting to kiss the student and maintained that he did not believe he had done anything wrong.

As a result of the allegations, Thomure has been placed on administrative leave by the Douglas County School District pending further investigation. He was released on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 18, according to court records.
