San Jose police have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for two recent bank robbery attempts in the city. According to San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih, the first incident occurred on May 12 in the 1100 block of South King Road, followed by a second attempt on May 14 in the 1700 block of Story Road. In both instances, the suspect handed over a handwritten note demanding cash, while also claiming to possess a firearm. However, the bank tellers did not comply with the demands, and the suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
One of the notes, which was released by the police, requested $7,000 from the teller and urged them to act promptly. Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as a 38-year-old resident of San Jose. A warrant for his arrest was obtained, leading to his apprehension on June 19 at his residence. He has since been booked into Santa Clara County jail on a charge of attempted armed robbery and is currently being held without bail at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, as confirmed by jail records.
