Suspect Arrested for Alleged Cargo Theft of Electronics in Fontana

Amarveer Johal, a 34-year-old resident of Fontana, was apprehended on Wednesday, April 17, by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department following accusations of posing as a driver for a transport company and stealing 30 pallets of electronics. The arrest came after a report was filed on March 25 by a business in Fontana, stating that a fraudulent shipping company had made off with the valuable cargo.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the victim reported that an individual claiming to be a driver for the company arrived at their premises with falsified paperwork. Seizing the opportunity, the imposter departed the business premises with the electronics, which were intended for shipment to a company located in Colorado. However, the intended recipient in Colorado informed the Fontana business that they had not received the expected shipment.

Detectives initiated surveillance operations at a residence situated in the 4900 block of River Ash Way in Fontana. Through their investigation, they identified Amarveer Johal as the responsible party behind the cargo theft. On Wednesday, law enforcement officials arrested Johal at his residence.

During the arrest, authorities were able to recover some of the stolen property, which was subsequently returned to its rightful owner. The Sheriff’s Department suspects that Johal may be involved in additional fraudulent cargo thefts within the Fontana area.
