Priceless George Washington Portrait Stolen from Colorado Storage Unit

A valuable painting depicting George Washington, believed to have been created in the early 1800s, was reported stolen from a storage unit in Englewood, Colorado. The theft, which occurred on January 10, was only discovered recently, prompting local law enforcement to launch an investigation. Crystal Essman, spokesperson for the Englewood Police Department, expressed the rarity of such incidents in the city, stating, “It’s not often that we have historical artifacts or historical art pieces stolen from this city.”

The stolen portrait, measuring approximately 24 inches by 30 inches and encased in a gold frame, has been in the possession of the same family for the past 50 years. Due to its historical significance, the exact value of the artwork remains undisclosed and difficult to estimate. Essman emphasized that the family considers the painting a cherished heirloom and is eager for its safe return.

In an effort to recover the stolen artwork, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined forces with local law enforcement. They are now seeking the public’s assistance in locating the missing portrait of George Washington.
