Oakland police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in East Oakland, resulting in the death of one man and the injury of another. The victims’ identities have not been released by authorities at this time. The incident took place at approximately 4:20 a.m. in the vicinity of 16th Avenue and International Boulevard.
Both victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The second victim remains in stable condition. It is yet to be determined whether the two men were acquainted. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation, and no arrests have been made thus far.
This tragic incident marks the 26th homicide being investigated by the Oakland Police Department this year. Comparatively, by this time last year, the police had already probed 32 homicides within the city.
