Mike Tyson Launches “Mike Bites” Edibles, Stirring Controversy in New York Weed Shops

New York weed shops are abuzz with the arrival of Mike Tyson’s latest venture, “Mike Bites” edibles. The former heavyweight champion, known for his infamous ear-biting incident during a fight with Evander Holyfield, is now branding THC-infused gummies shaped like an ear with a bite mark. Tyson, a Brooklyn native, plans to promote his Tyson 2.0 brand with a series of events, including one in Times Square next month.

Dispensaries such as Strain Stars in Farmingdale, Housing Works in Greenwich Village, Grow Together in Brooklyn, Flynnstoned in Syracuse, and Stage One in Rensselaer have already stocked their shelves with the controversial gummies. Tyson, in a statement, expressed his astonishment at the progress made in the legal utilization of cannabis for mental and physical well-being, emphasizing the need for continued improvements in expanding access to plant-based wellness.

However, not everyone in the cannabis industry is supportive of promoting Tyson’s products. Critics point to his criminal record, which includes a 1992 conviction for raping Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant, and accusations of spousal abuse. Stu Zakim, a publicist for The Travel Agency, a cannabis dispensary in Union Square, criticized the choice of Tyson as a role model, stating that better role models should be celebrated.
