Major Drug Trafficking Operation in Philadelphia’s Kensington Neighborhood Leads to Six Arrests

Philadelphia police, Pennsylvania State Police, and Homeland Security have announced the successful culmination of a months-long investigation into drug trafficking in the Kensington neighborhood. The joint operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals on Thursday, all of whom are alleged traffickers hailing from Philadelphia.

The suspects, identified as Jose Fernandez de La Cruz (32), Jose Fernandez de La Cruz (23), Anneury de La Cruz (26), Jahmire Johnson (18), Gianna Smith (20), and Edward Murphy (36), have been charged with possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy, and corrupt organizations – all serious felonies. Bail amounts ranging from $100,000 to $750,000 have been set for each defendant.

Attorney General Michelle Henry expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “Months of investigation and collaboration with our partner agencies led to the arrests of upper-level traffickers and the removal of enough fentanyl to put millions of people at risk. My office remains committed to holding predatory dealers accountable for being just that – individuals selling deadly poisons without a concern for the human impact.”

During the operation, law enforcement officials executed search warrants at multiple residences located on Glenview Street, Tulip Street, and East Allegheny Avenue. The following items were seized as evidence: 5,015 grams of fentanyl (both packaged and in bulk), 93 grams of crack cocaine, 81 grams of marijuana, 33 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms, and $6,889 in cash.

The magnitude of the seizure highlights the potential harm that could have been inflicted on countless individuals had these drugs made their way into the community. The collaborative efforts of the Philadelphia police, Pennsylvania State Police, and Homeland Security have successfully disrupted a significant drug trafficking operation, removing dangerous substances from the streets and ensuring the safety of the public.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the accused individuals will face the consequences of their alleged actions. The authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to combatting drug-related crimes and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
