A tragic incident unfolded during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, as a local radio host, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was identified as one of the victims of a deadly mass shooting. The radio station KKFI confirmed the news, stating that Lopez-Galvan, known as “Lisa G” and the host of “Taste of Tejano,” lost her life in the senseless act. This devastating event has not only taken away a beloved member of her family but has also deeply impacted the Kansas City community.
The shooting, which occurred near Union Station in Kansas City, left at least 21 other individuals wounded, including children and teenagers. According to Kansas City Fire Department chief Ross Grundyson, eight of the victims had immediately life-threatening injuries, seven had life-threatening injuries, and six sustained minor injuries.
Lopez-Galvan attended the parade with her husband and adult son, who is a devoted Kansas City sports fan and was also shot during the incident, as revealed by Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez, childhood friends who worked with Lopez-Galvan at a staffing company. Described as an extrovert and devoted mother, Lopez-Galvan had been a private DJ for over 15 years before starting her hosting role on “Taste of Tejano” in March 2022.
Shortly after the shooting, three individuals were taken into custody, and law enforcement officials have recovered at least one firearm. The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing.
