Laguna Beach Police Make Arrest in Suspicious Death of Tatum Goodwin

Police have arrested 26-year-old Dino Rojas-Moreno in connection with the suspicious death of 27-year-old Tatum Goodwin, whose body was found in Laguna Beach. Goodwin’s body, showing signs of trauma consistent with homicide, was discovered on November 12 in an alleyway near Ocean Avenue.

The arrest followed a community gathering on the San Clemente Pier, where hundreds came together to remember Goodwin, who worked as an assistant manager at Carmelita’s restaurant for four years. The arrest was a collaborative effort involving the Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Anaheim police departments.

Friends and family remembered Goodwin as a loving and generous person. Her mother, Stacy Goodwin-Pitino, described her as “happy-go-lucky” and selfless, while her sister Kaylee Goodwin highlighted the positive impact she had on others.

The case has left the coastal community, known for its beachfront amenities, in shock. Detectives believe this was an isolated incident and see no further threat to the community. The motive for the homicide and the relationship, if any, between Rojas-Moreno and Goodwin remain undisclosed.

Rojas-Moreno is currently being held on $1 million bail. As the investigation continues, Laguna Beach Detective Tanner Flagstad is urging those with information to come forward and contact him at 949-497-0369 or tflagstad@lagunabeachcity.net.

Anonymous tips can be sent to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
