Jamie Foxx Faces Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Assault at New York Bar in 2015

A lawsuit has been filed against actor, singer, and comedian Jamie Foxx, accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman at a rooftop bar in New York City in 2015. The complaint, submitted in the state Supreme Court in Manhattan under the name Jane Doe, alleges that Foxx engaged in non-consensual physical contact with the plaintiff.

According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred at Catch NYC in 2015 when the woman and her friend, seated next to Foxx’s table, requested a photo with him. Following the pictures, the suit claims Foxx complimented her appearance, comparing her to actress Gabrielle Union. The lawsuit further alleges that Foxx then led the woman to a more private area where he touched her breasts and genitals without her consent.

The incident purportedly ended when the woman’s friend arrived, prompting Foxx to cease his actions. The women then left the area, as per the lawsuit’s details.

A representative for Foxx responded to the allegations, stating to CBS News that “the alleged incident never happened.” The statement highlighted a similar lawsuit filed by the same individual in 2020 in Brooklyn, which was dismissed. Foxx’s spokesperson expressed confidence that the current lawsuit would also be dismissed and indicated Foxx’s intention to pursue a claim for malicious prosecution against the plaintiff and her attorneys.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit against Foxx is seeking unspecified damages, to be determined at trial. The lawsuit is one of several filed under the temporary New York Adult Survivors Act, which allowed adult victims to sue for alleged sexual assaults that would have otherwise been barred by the statute of limitations. This law expired after Thursday.

In a related development, rapper and entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs faced a lawsuit last week filed by singer Casandra Ventura, known professionally as Cassie, alleging rape and physical abuse during their relationship from approximately 2007 to 2018. However, a settlement was reached between the parties a day after the lawsuit’s filing.
