High-Speed Crash Involving Chiefs and SMU Wide Receivers Leaves Four Injured

An arrest warrant affidavit reveals that Rashee Rice, the embattled Chiefs wide receiver, was driving at a speed exceeding 100 mph during last month’s six-vehicle crash in Dallas, which resulted in injuries to four individuals. According to the affidavit, Rice was operating his Lamborghini Urus at a staggering speed of 119 mph, a significant 49 mph over the designated 70 mph limit. Similarly, SMU wide receiver Theodore “Teddy” Knox was driving his Corvette at 116 mph just 7.5 seconds before the collision occurred.

Video evidence of the incident suggests that both vehicles engaged in multiple aggressive maneuvers to navigate through traffic. In an attempt to avoid a sedan in their path, both Rice and Knox took faulty evasive action, ultimately colliding with each other. The aftermath of the collision involved several other vehicles, resulting in a chain reaction of events within a matter of seconds.

Rice turned himself in to authorities on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued, charging him with eight felony counts. He was subsequently released on a $40,000 bond. Royce West, Rice’s attorney, conveyed his client’s remorse, stating, “Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident.”

The crash occurred on March 30 on U.S. Highway 75 in Dallas. Following the collision, Rice, Knox, and other passengers in the vehicles fled the scene without checking the condition of those involved in the crash. However, the other passengers who fled will not face charges.

West, addressing reporters, described Rice as a young man who made a mistake. He assured that Rice would take all necessary measures to assist in the recovery process of those injured and to address property damage.

In a parallel development, SMU wide receiver Teddy Knox faces the same charges as Rice and has been suspended from the SMU football team.
