From Fame to Infamy: Former Male Model Arrested for Attempted Rape

Dean Kelly, the once-charismatic male model who captivated audiences in Aerosmith’s iconic music video for “Crazy,” has been arrested and charged with attempted rape. The New Orleans Police Department announced on Thursday that Kelly, now 52 years old, was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a woman he met through a dating app.

Court documents obtained by WDSU reveal that the victim claimed Kelly used a fake name and looked nothing like his photos before the alleged assault took place. This incident, which occurred in October, led to Kelly being charged with attempted third-degree rape and sexual battery.

However, this is not the first time Kelly has found himself on the wrong side of the law. In 2014, he received a 10-year suspended sentence and five years of probation for sexual battery and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. His probation was later violated when he failed to adhere to the terms, including using aliases on social media and registering all phones he used.

Kelly’s troubled past also includes accusations of raping a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old girl in separate incidents back in 2005. Although he took an Alford plea, acknowledging the evidence against him, he faced charges of forcible rape, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, second-degree kidnapping, and possession of child pornography.

Even during his imprisonment in 2014, Kelly’s criminal behavior did not cease. He was charged with attempting to hire a fellow inmate to kill former New Orleans District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro, the judge who presided over his case, and his defense attorney, Jason Williams. Kelly pleaded guilty to threatening a public official and received a six-month suspended jail sentence and two years of probation.

Now, with his recent arrest, Kelly finds himself back behind bars at the Orleans Parish Justice Center, held on a staggering $1.1 million bond. In addition to the attempted rape charges, he also faces charges for failing to register as a sex offender and failing to notify authorities of his status.

The once-promising male model’s fall from grace serves as a stark reminder of the dark side that can lurk beneath the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry. As the investigation unfolds, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for justice to be served and for the victims to find solace in the face of such heinous crimes.
