A 25-year-old Fremont man has been apprehended by authorities on Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last week in the city. The incident took place at the intersection of Stevenson Boulevard and Albrae Street on March 5, with reports of gunfire being received around 9:45 a.m. According to the Fremont Police Department, two vehicles were involved in the shooting, and upon their arrival, officers discovered one of the drivers suffering from gunshot wounds.
Tragically, the injured driver succumbed to his injuries on Saturday after being transported to a nearby trauma center. The other vehicle involved in the incident had fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement personnel.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified Sylvester Carver as a suspect in the case. Carver was subsequently arrested on Wednesday in the 5000 block of Hartnett Avenue in Richmond. He has been booked into Santa Rita Jail on a murder charge. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has since filed additional charges against Carver, including murder, attempted murder, and two counts of willful discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
Detectives are continuing their diligent efforts to gather further information and evidence related to the shooting. Anyone who possesses relevant information regarding this case is urged to contact Fremont police Detective Michael Gebhardt at 510-790-6900.
