A man from Pinellas Park, Florida, has been charged with the alleged poisoning of his nephew’s sandwich using eye drops. The Pinellas Park Police Department reports that an individual observed the suspect, identified as 45-year-old James Leach, purchasing eye drops at a local business. This incident occurred on a recent Wednesday.
The witness reported seeing Leach express discontent with his nephew and proceeded to pour the eye drop solution onto a meatball sandwich. The Pinellas Park police confirmed the incident through security footage, which showed Leach applying the eye drops to the sandwich.
Leach’s nephew consumed a portion of the sandwich, unaware of any potential tampering. He declined medical assistance. According to the police, the nephew and Leach have a history of domestic disputes, with several prior incidents reported at their residence.
The Pinellas Park Police charged Leach with poisoning food or water. He is currently detained at the Pinellas County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.
