Five Arrested for $30,000 Theft Spree in Fort Collins

Five individuals have been apprehended by the Fort Collins Police Department on suspicion of stealing merchandise worth $30,000 from various stores in Fort Collins. The arrests were made following a report received by the police on Tuesday night, alleging that four suspects had pilfered thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from the fragrance department of an Ulta Beauty Supply store in Fort Collins.

A vigilant Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Deputy subsequently halted a southbound vehicle on Interstate 25, which matched the description of the suspects’ car. Upon inspection, the officer discovered $5,585 worth of fragrances from Ulta inside the vehicle. Authorities have linked the group to additional retail thefts in the area, amounting to $25,347.

The five suspects, consisting of two individuals from Denver, two from Fort Collins, and one from Aurora, were promptly booked into the Larimer County Jail. They face charges of felony theft and were issued a $1,000 cash-only bond. Notably, during the investigation, it was revealed that one suspect had initially provided false information regarding their birth date. Further inquiry uncovered an outstanding warrant from Arapahoe County for attempted murder and kidnapping. Consequently, this suspect has been detained on the attempted murder warrant, in addition to facing charges of felony theft and false reporting to authorities. They are being held on a no-bond warrant for the Arapahoe County charges.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat retail theft in the Fort Collins area. The collaboration between the Fort Collins Police Department, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, and other authorities has resulted in the swift apprehension of these suspects. The stolen merchandise, valued at $30,000, will be returned to the respective stores.
