Brett Camp, a 58-year-old Fayetteville man, has pleaded not guilty in a rape case that dates back to 1995. Camp was arrested in September of this year after being found living in California under a fake name. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and extradited to Arkansas to face charges of rape.
According to Washington County, Camp is accused of engaging in oral sex with a 12-year-old. Detectives located him living in Los Angeles, leading to his arrest. The original arrest warrant, issued on January 27, 1995, set Camp’s bond at $25,000. However, Washington County Judge Mark Lindsay reset the bond to $200,000.
Camp is currently out on bond and is scheduled to have a jury trial on April 15, 2024, in Washington County. If convicted, he could face a sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison. Court documents state that Camp is ordered to have no contact with the victim.
