15-Year-Old Arrested in Connection to South San Jose Hit-and-Run That Killed Pregnant Woman and Baby

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident in South San Jose that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and her baby. The collision occurred at approximately 8:42 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and Winfield Boulevard. The victim, identified as 21-year-old San Jose resident April Zoglauer, was driving an eastbound 2008 Nissan sedan on Blossom Hill when her vehicle was struck by a 2013 white Hyundai sedan traveling south on Winfield.

According to the police, the Hyundai sedan involved in the crash had been stolen but had not yet been reported as such. The driver of the stolen vehicle ran a red light at the intersection. Following the collision, two males fled the scene on foot. Zoglauer was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her baby was delivered through emergency surgery but succumbed to its injuries the following day.

On Friday, the 15-year-old driver of the stolen Hyundai was apprehended and subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on various charges. The exact nature of the charges has not been specified by the police. The status of the second male who fled the scene remains unknown.
