Jevon Porter, the younger brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., was arrested in Boone County, Missouri, early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The 20-year-old, who was also accused of speeding, was taken into custody at 1:31 a.m. by the State Highway Patrol.
Jevon Porter, a 6-foot-11 basketball player hailing from Columbia, Missouri, currently plays for the Loyola Marymount University basketball team. He had previously started all 31 games during his freshman year at Pepperdine University, earning a spot on the all-West Coast Conference freshman team. Porter was highly regarded as the fifth-ranked player in the state when he graduated from Father Tolton Catholic High School.
This incident adds to a series of unfortunate events involving the Porter family. Coban Porter, another brother of the NBA star, was recently sentenced for causing a fatal drunk-driving accident in Denver last year. Additionally, Jontay Porter, who previously played for the Toronto Raptors, was suspended last month after an investigation revealed that he had disclosed confidential health information to sports bettors.
The arrest of Jevon Porter comes at a crucial time for Michael Porter Jr. and the Denver Nuggets, as they have just advanced to the playoffs and are set to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
