Woman Charged with Murder of One-Year-Old Son Allegedly Assaulted Child

A woman, Giltinan Aldan Ramangmou, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and child abuse after allegedly assaulting her one-year-old son. According to witness statements quoted in a magistrate’s complaint, Ramangmou was seen “whaling punches” at the child.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a residence in Dededo on Wednesday evening and found the child pulseless and breathless. Ramangmou was arrested at the scene and expressed remorse, stating, “I should’ve taken him to the hospital, I’m so sorry God.” The child had multiple severe head injuries, and the father reported witnessing Ramangmou assaulting the child. The injuries were consistent with “battered baby syndrome,” according to Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jeffrey Nine. The autopsy for the child is scheduled for today. Ramangmou appeared before Magistrate Judge Benjamin Sison, who set her bail at $500,000 cash.

The Guam Police Department has not released the official autopsy results at this time.
