Violent Assault Captured on Video in Greenwich Park

A disturbing video has surfaced, capturing a violent assault that took place in Byram Park, Greenwich, Connecticut. The footage, obtained from Snapchat by ABC 7, shows a white teenage girl being viciously beaten by two black girls after an alleged racial slur was used by the victim. The incident occurred on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.

In the video, the victim is seen flailing on the ground while the two assailants repeatedly strike her. Onlookers can be heard shouting and recording the attack, seemingly encouraging the violence. One of the attackers then drags the victim down a hill, while the crowd continues to engage in heated exchanges. The victim, in a moment of distress, screams a racial slur, further escalating the situation. This prompts another round of violence, with the attackers beating the victim until she loses consciousness and requires assistance from bystanders to be removed from the scene.

Greenwich Police Department responded to calls about the incident and found the victim, a junior at Greenwich High School, lying on the ground. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The motive behind the initial violence remains unknown, and police are actively investigating the incident.

Of the nearly two dozen individuals seen in the Snapchat video, two have been arrested, and five others have been identified as being involved in the assault. Additional charges against other participants are pending, according to law enforcement. The individuals suspected of taking part in the attack hail from Greenwich, Stamford, and Port Chester.

Greenwich’s First Selectman, Fred Camillo, expressed concern over the rise in such violent incidents, describing them as a disturbing phenomenon. He emphasized that the town is taking the assault seriously and mentioned that three different entities within the police department are investigating the case.

As the investigation continues, all subjects involved in the assault will be arrested and referred to Stamford Superior Court, as announced by the Greenwich Police Department on Facebook.

  2. This is absolutely outrageous and sickening! How can anyone justify such a violent assault taking place in a public park? It is beyond comprehension that someone could have the audacity to commit such a heinous act. This incident is a clear indication of the deteriorating state of our society, where violence seems to be becoming the norm.

It is deeply concerning that this assault occurred in a place that is supposed to be safe for families and individuals to enjoy. Byram Park should be a sanctuary, a place
