Vikings receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on Friday night in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence. The arrest took place near Los Angeles International Airport, where Addison was allegedly found asleep behind the wheel of his white Rolls-Royce. The incident occurred around 11:36 p.m. and Addison was released two hours later after a DUI investigation, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
The Vikings released a statement on Sunday night acknowledging Addison’s arrest and stating that they are currently gathering more information about the incident. The details of the DUI investigation have not been disclosed at this time.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Addison’s vehicle was blocking a lane of I-105 when he was discovered asleep behind the wheel. This is not the first legal issue Addison has faced, as he was cited for speeding and reckless driving last offseason before his first NFL season with the Vikings. In that incident, he was charged with going 140 mph in a 55 mph zone in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Addison claimed that he was speeding because his dog had an emergency at his residence.
In response to the previous incident, Addison issued a statement expressing remorse for his actions and vowing to learn from his mistake. The reckless driving charge was eventually dismissed, and Addison pled guilty to the speeding charge, resulting in fines and fees totaling $686.
Despite these off-field incidents, Addison had a successful rookie season in the NFL, catching 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. He played alongside various quarterbacks due to Kirk Cousins’ injury and established himself as a complementary player to top wideout Justin Jefferson. Addison had notable performances, including two multi-touchdown games against the 49ers and the Bengals.
